Hello from Greece,
Today, August 22nd, Vodafone offers officialy(?) the iPhone 3G to the stores.
In Apple’s website this info isn’t updated.
Still the OSX on iPhone and iPod Touch don’t have greek keyboard. This is a shame for Apple and for it’s developers (I know there are greeks in the development teams of OSX for Macs and for the iPhone). Now, I’m a user of all Mac platforms, and so far, I’m frustated with the stand that Apple keeps to it’s greek customers. The market here is growing like crazy, everywhere you look there is an iPod, a MacBook, an iPhone or iPod Touch… the only thing there isn’t there, is THE official support with the same rules that the rest of europeans have the last years. We don’t have greek keyboard, no greek translations on apps or the OS. Only volunteers like www.hello-macos.org that translate the OS and famous apps for FREE. At least, send them a typical “Thank you”. They’ll be glad that Apple can see their efforts.
Apple I though had the best philosophy in the industry, every year prooves me wrong.
Think of you, to be in a foreign country that no one writes in english or reads and also don’t understand you at all. Will you feel confortable? Now think all of those greek users that don’t know english (maybe it’s 20% o the population). Why you don’t offer them the right to have the most advanced OS today in their language? Or the most advance phone to be fully operatable?
Now imagine all the features that iPhone OS has, and you drop by 50% the capabilities cause of the lack of the greek localization and the greek keyboard that WE USE TO SEARCH, WRITE SMS, E-MAILS etc…. Since we pay even more than the rest of the world for your products, we have the RIGHT to demand what I just mention above. Now, think for a while all I’m saying and respond to me in a million years writting a typical e-mail, full with excuses.
Take care stranger and greetings from the forgotten country (aka Greece)
Vangelis Makridakis.
